Dear Member,

The Election Committee comprising Justice Khawaja Muhammad Sharif (Chairman), Mr. Javed Altaf (Member), Dr. M. Akram Kashmiri (Member) is pleased to announce the following schedule for the Election 2008 of the Old Ravians Union, GC University, Lahore.

1. Offices for which Elections are to be held

a) President (not less than 50 years of age and must have spent 4 academic years in GC)

b) Two Vice Presidents (one male and one female)

c) Associate Secretary

d) Treasurer

e) One Executive Member from each of the following decades:

i) 1931-1940, v) 1971-1980,

ii) 1941-1950, vi) 1981-1990,

iii) 1951-1960, vii) 1991- 2007.

iv) 1961-1970,

2. Eligibility

A candidate;

a) Must be a registered member of the Union.

b) Must have spent at least 2 academic years in the GC.

c) Must not have been declared persona non grata by the GC.

3. Election Schedule:

a) Nomination papers can be obtained from Union’s office, Prof. Salam Hall (Old Hall)

GC University, Lahore on June 02 & 03, 2008 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

b) Submission of nomination papers along with copy of NID card, ‘Declaration’ and

original bank receipt of Election fee Rs.1000/- (non refundable) for each office on

June 04 & 05, 2008 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

c) List of received nomination papers will be displayed on June 05, 2008 at 6:00 PM on

notice board of the main gate of the GCU.

d) Last date for filing of objections and withdrawal of nomination papers of the

candidates will be June 07, 2008 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

e) After scrutiny, the final list of the candidates will be displayed on June 09, 2008 at

6:00 PM on the notice board of main gate of the GCU.

f) General Body meeting will be held at 10:00 AM in the Bokhari Auditorium on June

22, 2008.

g) Polling will start after the General Body meeting and continue till 5:00 PM, on June

22, 2008 at GC University, Lahore.

4. Election fee

Rs.1000 will be the Election fee for every office of the Union.

5. Authentic list of voters

A candidate can obtain from the ORU office an authentic list of registered members by depositing Rs.1000 in the Account (228-5) of Old Ravians Union, UBL Govt. College Branch.

6. Declaration

Every candidate will have to submit a declaration (Performa can be obtained from the Union office) along with nomination papers.

7. A voter has to prove his/her identity

At the time of casting of vote, it is mandatory for a voter to produce either NID Card or passport or ORU card to prove his/her identity.

8. Suspension of Membership

The new membership of the Union will remain suspended from June 1 to June 30, 2008. (both days are inclusive).
